‘Augusta’ is a wonderful F H Ayres rocking horse on a safety stand, c1900.
She stands proudly with lightly carved features and will make a wonderful centerpiece or display in any home.
Augusta has a beautiful blond real horsehair mane and tail, glass eyes, and a lovely real leather removable two-tone brown saddle with matching brown bridle, martingale and crupper. She has been restored and refinished in the original F H Ayres style, and looks wonderful again, just like back in the early 1900’s. The stand bears a stencil mark which is almost indistinguishable and so we simply cannot read it with certainty, however if we had to offer an opinion we think it look like it said Harrods of Knightsbridge, which was often the store these beautiful rocking horses were sold in.
From the top English maker, she will grace your home even though she is now well over 100 years old.
