‘Beau’ is a beautiful Relko rocking horse, made in a laminated style which shows off his wood to wonderful effect.

He is a large size horse and very heavy and strong, with his original real horsehair mane and tail and glass eyes. He has a kind face, fixed saddle with new saddlecloth and rosette, plus new reins. He has been fitted with new stirrups and a new fulmer bit (all in matching nickel) and he has his makers name etched into his stand at the front. He also has his number (31 S) and date of copyright (1977) carved into the crosspiece at the front of his stand, again showing him to be from the Relko Rocking Horse Company, who sold this model in Harrods and other fine retailers.

Relko were originally located in the UK but moved to New Zealand over 20 years ago. They made their first horse in the early 1970s in England when no one was making wooden rocking horses. The layered muscled effect gives the Relko horse it’s distinctive look which has become a trade mark of the design.

The stand has been serviced and then a full polish applied to keep it looking good. The horse has had his hair detangled and conditioned, been lightly refurbished and a wood varnish applied so all is now in good pre-loved condition and he is ready to ride again.
