Brigadier

“Brigadier” is an extra carved F H Ayres of London rocking horse on the original safety stand, c 1920.

He was purchased by the previous owner in July 2020 in a very poor state, then restored by Stevenson Bros of Kent in October 2021. We have photos and descriptions of the work carried out on him etc which we will of course pass on to the new owner. Stevensons also suggested an insurance valuation for Brigadier of £4000 in 2021.

He stands 109 cm tall and has a wonderful lifelike stance, with a turned neck and head facing toward his right. His safety stand has the fluted runners fitted to the finest horses by F H Ayres. He has a beautifully detailed face with glass eyes, and he is extra carved too. He has a real horsehair mane and tail, with glass eyes. His tack is as brand new and fixed, with an unusual Pelham bit which means he has two sets of reins fitted.
