Claudius

‘Claudius’ is a beautiful F H Ayres rocking horse on a safety stand, c1920.      .

Claudius is a lovely fully restored example of a large size dappled rocking horse from the renowned makers F H Ayres. He has a fixed leather bridle and saddle with matching stirrup leathers, reins, crupper and martingale, with a removable pommel on one side which was used to teach young ladies to ride side-saddle. His real horsehair mane & tail complement his colours and red rosettes, and he has lifelike glass eyes with a very friendly face and good solid proportions, so would be a great addition to any home. He is in wonderful condition and has many, many years ahead of him.

This model is made from top quality materials, so Claudius is a really solid horse and will command any room he is put in. F H Ayres are known as the ‘Rolls Royce’ of rocking horse makers and a horse of this quality would most likely have been sold in Harrods and Selfridges. A lovely horse, he is fit and ready to ride – just looking for his new home with you.
