‘Cornelius’ F H Ayres ‘D’ Type Rockig Horse circa 1925
‘Cornelius’ is a rare and special ‘D’ type F H Ayres
rocking horse, circa 1925, with extra carving, carved tongue and turned
head. He has a ‘Harrods of Knightsbridge’ stencil on his stand. He was shipped to South Africa in the 1930’s and shipped back to the UK about 10 years ago, when he was bought by a private collector, who had him restored by David Kiss. He was repainted and given a new mane and tail. We have fitted him with new quality removable black leather tack.
Cornelius is a special horse and a very desirable investment, this ‘D’ type rarely comes onto the market.
HIs measurements are:-
F H Ayres (1801 – 1940) are known as the
‘Rolls Royce’ of rocking horse makers and Cornelius would have been sold in Harrods, as confirmed by the stencil on his stand of the Harrods name and a number 5. These horses are much
desired as an investment piece.

minor age related characteristics. All the horses however are fully
