Eliza

‘Eliza’ is a large Baby Carriages Ltd “Rambler” rocking horse on a safety stand, produced in Liverpool c 1937.

Standing 116cm high, she is certainly one of the largest BCL rocking horses we have seen here. With dappled paintwork (touched in where needed to preserve her look) she is as original as we could keep her, with original cowhair mane and tail, original leatherwork and rosettes too.

Her head is turned to her right, with a friendly face and glass eyes. Her fixed saddle is in good condition still, so is retained with it’s plush velvet cover too, so all in all she really looks as though she has just come out of the BCL  Duke Street workshops in Liverpool.
