Maggie

“Maggie” –  an Antique Dapple Grey rocking horse on a safety stand.

Maggie is a large, wooden rocking horse with an antique dapple grey finish. Her body is hand-carved from poplar (tulip wood) and her stand from ash. Her fixed saddle and bridle are made from top-quality vegetable tanned leather with solid brass fittings and she has brass stirrups, all of which look like new now after her preparation.

Her beautiful blonde mane and tail are made from real horse hair and are really luxuriant. She has a wonderful friendly face with glass eyes, and a head turned to her left so she looks very realistic and is off for a gallop. Her wonderful red rosettes really show her off as a very special horse indeed.

Maggie was hand-carved and painted by James Hignett of Mr Hignetts Horses in their bespoke workshops in Kempston, Bedfordshire. James draws on more than a century of family expertise and tradition to craft his horses, and Maggie is certainly a fine example.

She stands ready for immediate delivery.

Please be aware these are mostly old horses and as such may show some minor age related characteristics. All the horses however are solid. If you are unsure, please arrange to come and view before purchasing. Viewing is very welcome by appointment.
