‘Octavius’ an F H Ayres ‘D’ Type Rocking Horse, circa 1900.
‘Octavius’ is rare and special ‘D’ type F H Ayres
rocking horse, circa 1900, with extra carving, carved tongue and turned
head, in mostly original condition. His original paintwork has been
repaired and he also retains his original stand and saddle. He has been
given a new mane and tail and some aged stirrups leathers and stirrups
and a new bridle. His stand is stencilled ‘patented 1880’ and he has a
number ‘6’ carved onto his forehead, these numbers appear only on some
horses, prior to 1900.
Octavius is a special horse and a very desirable investment.
